The Ultimate Guide to Garden Office Rooms

A garden office is the most popular reason customers come to us — and for good reason. It creates a genuine separation between work and home life, without the commute or the cost of renting office space.

What size do you actually need?

For a single desk setup with storage, our 9m² Compact Escape is comfortable. If you take video calls regularly, host occasional meetings, or need a proper library/storage wall, our 12m² Versatile Studio gives noticeably more breathing room. Two people working from the same space day-to-day should look at the 15m² Dual Workspace or larger.

Power, data, and connectivity

Every CoreBuild includes electrics ready for your setup, but it’s worth planning ahead: how many sockets, where your desk will sit, and whether you want ethernet run out from your house (more reliable than relying on wifi range at the end of the garden). We can also fit dedicated data cabling as part of a SignatureFit upgrade.

Heating, cooling, and comfort

A garden office needs to work in January and July alike. Full insulation plus a smart heating system keeps the space usable year-round rather than being a lovely space for six months of the year and a cold box for the other six.

Acoustic privacy

If client calls or focus work matter, consider acoustic upgrades — better glazing, insulated stud walls — available through SignatureFit. Standard CoreBuild insulation already cuts down significantly on external noise.

Making it feel like a “real” office

Natural light, a view out to the garden, and enough storage to keep the desk clear all make a bigger difference to daily productivity than most people expect before they move in.
